Before you film a Bolt Action game: the free FAQ, errata and downloads to check

Bolt Action Third Edition gets regular free updates from Warlord Games: a rulebook FAQ and errata, per-army updates, a quick reference sheet and free scenarios. If you're about to play a game for a battle report, a few minutes on these pages saves arguments at the table and corrections in the comments.

1. The rulebook FAQ and errata

Warlord's community site keeps a Bolt Action Third Edition FAQ and errata page. When we checked it on October 29, 2026, the rulebook document was the September 2026 version, listed as updated on 24 September 2026. It's a free PDF.

FAQ and errata documents correct printed text and answer common rules questions. If you learned the game from the printed book, some of what you remember may have changed. Skim the whole document before a recorded game, not just the section you think applies.

2. Your army's own update

The same page has separate FAQ and errata documents for the Armies of… books. On October 29, 2026 it listed documents for Germany, Great Britain, the Soviet Union, Japan, Italy and the Commonwealth dated September 2026, and for the USA dated September 2025. Warlord says a new Armies of… book is released every quarter, so check whether your nation's book has come out or been updated since you last looked.

There's also a separate document for the Roll of Honour. If you use it, check it too.

3. The quick reference sheet

Warlord's digital resources page has a free A4 quick reference play sheet. Print one for each player. On camera, a play sheet is much easier to glance at than flipping through the rulebook mid-turn, and it keeps the game moving.

The same page also has free PDF army lists for further Axis and Allied nations that don't have their own book yet. Warlord says these will be replaced over time by Armies of… books. It also mentions the Warlord Games app, where annual subscribers get rules first.

4. Free scenarios

If you want a game that isn't another straight points match, the free downloads page had four scenarios when we checked: Crisis at Stalingrad, Rogue Heroes in Sicily, Thirsty Work, and Just Another Day… for the Unkillable Soldier. A published scenario gives viewers something to follow along with, and it's easy to link to.

Say which version you played

Put one line near the top of your report, or in your video description, along these lines:

Bolt Action Third Edition, rulebook FAQ and errata September 2026, Armies of Great Britain FAQ September 2026. 1,000 points.

Use the documents you actually used, with their dates as Warlord lists them. That's all it takes. Readers can tell whether a ruling still applies, and anyone watching months later knows why a rule might look different from the current version. It goes well with the list format in sharing your army list.
